IASH Fellows in Athens

On Thursday 4th and Friday 5th April, a contingent of IASH Postdoctoral Fellows attended the ECHIC Conference in Athens, Greece. ECHIC (the European Consortium for Humanities Institutes and Centres) is a university-based initiative to organise European Research Institutes, Humanities Faculties and Centres for the Humanities. The conference addressed the interface between humanities and the arts within Europe in a globalised world, focusing on the creative industries as a paradigmatic topos of such confluences.

'Arctic Oil' by Clare Duffy

Arctic Oil

Arctic Oil, the new play by Clare Duffy, will première at the Traverse Theatre in October, directed by Gareth Nicholls. Clare wrote the script at IASH while she was the IASH-Traverse Creative Fellow in 2014-15. A rehearsed reading of the script, directed by Zinnie Harris, took place in February 2017. Experiments in Thought

Christopher Kitson

In May, IASH hosted a Susan Manning workshop bringing participants from a diverse range of disciplinary backgrounds together to explore the intersection between philosophy, science and literature by producing creative writing inspired by thought experiments. Postdoctoral Fellow Dr Christopher Kitson discusses the workshop and its context:
