The ex-Director of IASH, Professor Jo Shaw, has recently blogged about her one-year EURIAS fellowship at the Helsinki Collegium for Advanced Studies in Finland, and about the role of institutes of advanced study in the twenty-first century:
Overseas scholars wishing to visit IASH and the University of Edinburgh for up to 6 months are encouraged to apply for a British Academy Visiting Fellowship. Fellowships are open to academics at any career stage across the humanities and social sciences. Stipends of up to £12,000 are available, as well as travel grants and research expenses. The deadline for submission is Wednesday 31st January.

Onora Sylvia O’Neill, Baroness O’Neill of Bengarve, has been awarded the Berggruen Prize for Philosophy & Culture. Prof. O'Neill is an alumna and a long-standing supporter of IASH, first visiting as a Project Fellow in 1989, then again as the 2001 Gifford Lecturer. She continued her connection with the Institute as a member of IASH'S Advisory Board for many years.
