Lewis is a playwright and performance maker whose work is rooted in collaboration, storytelling, and creating space for the possibility of change. His works tends to informed by interrogations around Queerness and/or Ecology.

He works across a wide variety of contexts including writing scripts, developing immersive site experiences, creating intimate touring theatre for young people and playful collaborations with specific community groups.

Upcoming projects include QWERK, a series of play readings by Queer identifying writers from across the world, and The Coming Back Out Ball (National Theatre of Scotland) a project celebrating and amplifying the voices of older members of the LGBTI+ community. He is currently an Associate Playwright for Playwrights’ Studio Scotland and Artist in Residence at Bike for Good in Glasgow. He is on the board of Creative Carbon Scotland.

His time at IASH will be spent developing a new play called DEEP TIME for the Traverse Theatre. It will be informed by a exploration into deep ecology, the anthropocene and our current failure to make sense of the ever growing crises of spirituality, politics, environment and ethics we face. All this will be the foundation of a ghost story of a family who are on the brink of collapse as their future is overwhelmed by the horror of their present.

Lewis’ work has been presented throughout Scotland and the rest of the world including performances in Australia, China, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Germany, USA and Japan.
