Word on the Street- constitutional change on a street called home
Jemma is taking a sabbatical from her role as Director of Voluntary Arts Scotland, the national strategic development agency for community-led arts in Scotland. With a professional background in human rights law, she was previously Communications and Outreach Coordinator at the Scottish Human Rights Commission and has worked in a range of roles connecting human rights and culture including teaching at the European Inter-University Centre in Venice. She has written and presented for different press and media outlets and was shortlisted for The Guardian International Development Journalism Award. Jemma is a Board member of the Citadel Youth Centre in Leith.
While at IASH, she will researching and writing a personal narrative, non-fiction book about constitutional change in the current age of anxiety. Set on Constitution Street, Leith, the project will blend interviews, poetry and legal theory and explore what a written constitution might contain for, by and with the residents of this, one street in Scotland.
