Project: Pacific Imprints: Robert Louis Stevenson's Travel Literature and Photography
This monograph project focuses on Stevenson's corpus of 600+ photographs and integrates his (and his family's) photographic practice within his concurrent literary output. During her time at the IASH, Carla will be correlating the photographs from The Writers' Museum (Edinburgh) with manuscripts from the Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library (Yale), the Huntington Library (Pasadena), and the Hawai'i State Archive.
Bio:
Carla Manfredi teaches English literature at the University of Winnipeg. She previously held a SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa. Her work on R.L. Stevenson and photography has appeared most recently in Pacific Studies and Victorian Review.
