Project: The Hawthornden Manuscripts of William Fowler
Steenson is a recent Doctor Europaeus graduate from the University of Padua, where she studied in the Department of Philology, Languages and Literatures under Prof. Alessandra Petrina. She he has spent considerable time in Scotland, in St Andrews and Edinburgh. Her research interests lie mainly in manuscript and book studies, and in occasional and lyrical poetry, where she specializes in the sonnet tradition in Italy and Great Britain.
Her recent work has focused on Early Modern manuscripts, lyrical and occasional poetry in English, Italian and Latin. Her thesis examined the extensive manuscript collection of William Fowler, focusing on the many items of ephemeral poetry they contain, and relating them to their social, political and literary context. Her forthcoming monograph is based on this research.
