Hello, we are Amy and Abrisham, and we are both Interns with the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities this summer. We worked together on a production called Number, Please. at Bedlam Theatre in 2017, and look forward to uniting again under the Employ.ed scheme for undergraduate internships.
Amy has just completed her third year of law school, and is looking forward to taking on the role of Events and Communications Intern for the IASH 50th Anniversary celebrations happening next summer. Amy is looking to delve into the “rogue side of her law degree” and “explore the world of research and academia further.” Her interests lie across law and politics, with particular regard to the areas of elections, political parties, gender, and disabilities. Amy is looking forward to working within IASH due to the interdisciplinary nature of the research and work it produces. Amy is also a theatre producer, and features in a gun-toting pose on the left of the promotional image for Crocodile Fever at the Traverse Theatre this August, hence the rather unusual picture above!
Abi has just completed her third year of classical studies, and will be taking on the role of Gender and Sexuality Studies Communications Intern with IASH and genderED. Abi is looking to expand her horizons in media communications and editing. Her interests lie in journalism and global gender analysis and so she is “grateful to make way with her career incentives whilst still within the University setting”. She aims to pursue her education in either gender, global or development studies and so looks forward to gaining insight within the gender and sexualities department of IASH to aid in her decision.
We would both like to thank each of these institutions, the Employ.ed scheme, and all the staff involved for providing us with the opportunity to undertake these roles. We look forward to updating you on our journey over the next three months, and sharing insights into the work of both IASH and genderED. To keep up to date with our work, check back on the blog for updates, or follow @IASH_Edinburgh on Twitter!
