
Judith Fewell: Tales of Mourning - Stories of Loss and Longing

In this talk I tell many different kinds of stories about loss and longing. I draw upon ethnographic and narrative enquiry methodologies to create a text where a multiplicity of voices can be heard. The stories told are drawn from a variety of personal, professional and imaginative sources. My purpose is twofold, to critique the dominant mainstream bereavement narratives and to offer an alternative one drawn from contemporary psychoanalysis which argues for a continuing dynamic relationship with loss and longing throughout our lives in our encounter with ourselves and with others...
