THE BIG DATA SHOW
Bring your phones and turn them on!
12th April 1 pm and 3 pm
Red Lecture Theatre Summerhall
Edinburgh International Science Festival.
60 minutes.
Part digital magic show, part a history of hacking.
The Big Data Show combines digital gaming with live performance to tell the story of the first prosecution of hackers in the UK. Threading the story of that very first headline hack in 1984, through the modern experiences of life online, its dangers and delights, The Big Data Show will be an enthralling, entertaining, interactive experience. Classic storytelling combine with mobile gaming and big data tech to demystify online privacy, data security, and staying safe in a virtual world asking: what might it mean to be a digital citizen? There will also be a post-show discussion with Rupert Goodwins, one of those first hackers and now leading technology journalist. Supported by: Creative Scotland, Perth Theatre, The Tom McGrath Maverick Award, Playwrights’ Studio Scotland, Imaginate, Dundee Repertory Theatre and Abertay University.
