IASH proudly presents number 31 in our Occasional Papers series, Stories of Decolonisation: Experiences from Children and Young People by Dr Hamide Elif Üzümcü. Dr Üzümcü was the IASH-Alwaleed Postdoctoral Fellow for 2024-25. The publication is a report of a public engagement symposium held on 10 June 2025 at the Edinburgh Futures Institute, bringing together university scholars from diverse disciplinary backgrounds to create sociological fiction, narrating stories inspired by children and young people with whom they worked in their research.
The publication is available to download for free from our website here.
We would like to thank the event partners at the Binks Hub, the Centre for Research on Families and Relationships and the Alwaleed Centre for the Study of Islam in the Contemporary World. The event was organised by Dr Hamide Elif Üzümcü, and chaired by Prof Lynn Jamieson, Professor of Sociology, Families and Relationships and Dr Shruti Chaudhry, Chancellor’s Fellow in Sociology at the University of Edinburgh.
