An afternoon of talks and discussion about our relationship with place-making and environments.
Presented by Environmental Humanities Fellow Dr Kat Hill.
This programme of events is inspired by conversations about, images of and histories told of places that often seem marginal and isolated, wild and unnamed. Epitomised by the ‘simple shelter’ of mountain bothies, some places seem to exist at the fringes of our world and to persist in an older time. This event will explore and trouble our relationships to such places, to the landscapes they sit in, the communities they create and those they marginalise, and the tales woven around them. The day is a combination of talks and discussion about our relationship with place-making and environments, a reflection on and engagement with creative practice, and a questioning of tales we tell, songs we sing, walks we take and images we make in an age of contested pasts and the threatened futures of climate change.
