The University of Edinburgh Chaplaincy is hosting a sponsored walk in June to raise money for a new Humanitarian Assistance Fund.
We warmly invite University staff, students, and friends of the University to take part – either by walking with us, fundraising, or donating to the fund.

The walk On Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th June 2017, we will be undertaking a sponsored walk, overnight camp, and boat trip to Inchcolm Island, ending with a bus back to Scottish Parliament. We will visit historic religious sites on the route that are associated with hospitality and sanctuary, and on our journey we will remember the hardships many refugees have endured in their search for safety. We aim to raise £5000 through walk sponsorship and donations.

The fund The Humanitarian Assistance Fund will open educational opportunities for the most vulnerable, including refugees and other persons displaced by conflict. By supporting these individuals, the fund can raise aspirations, improve employment prospects, open opportunities for lifelong learning, provide access to education and improve their quality of life.

How to get involved There are several ways to support the walk and the Humanitarian Assistance Fund: Sign up to complete the walk and be sponsored for your efforts. Registration is £25 and we ask you to raise a minimum of £100 for the University’s Humanitarian Assistance Fund. Share our call for sponsorship: If you do not wish to or cannot register for the walk, but want to help raise money, you can share our sponsorship page. You can sponsor an individual walker or the walking group as a whole, or donate directly to the Fund as an individual, community group or business. share our event with anyone you think may be interested in taking part or donating.
