ASIST Annual Lecture 2016 – 6pm Wednesday November – Edinburgh Napier University Craiglockhart campus

Edinburgh Napier University is hosting a public lecture at its Craiglockhart campus on Wednesday 30th November at 6pm. The speaker is Professor Steve Fuller, Auguste Comte Chair in Social Epistemology at the University of Warwick. In a presentation entitled “What, if anything, makes knowledge an improvement over information?” Professor Fuller will discuss the tension between our thirst for easy access to vast quantities of information and our fears of information overload, and he will explore how concepts of information vary across contexts.

The event, which includes a drinks reception, is sponsored by a grant from the Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIST) as part of its ‘annual lecture’ series. This is the first time that the lecture has been hosted in the UK.
