Climate Change and the Aesthetics of Nature

As the reality of climate change sinks in, my excursions into nature have recently been accompanied by a sense of incipient loss and change. While beauty remains abundant and nature is not always obviously changed, knowledge of climate change has imbued my experiences with something darker, making them more complex and less simply pleasurable. My current work is an attempt to understand this experience, and to explore the implications for some central concepts in environmental aesthetics. In this seminar, I introduce the project.
