How democratization and authoritarianism have become problematic to explain Arab politics
Wednesday 1st May, 6:30pm-8pm, 50 George Square (Project Room)

A special public lecture by Professor Francesco Cavatorta, Department of Political Science, Université Laval: Reflecting on the longer-term trends in the region and using recent survey data, this talk will investigate the high level of dissatisfaction of citizens in countries that have experienced radically different post-uprising trajectories. The talk will argue that concrete governance practices and mechanisms rather than the democratic or authoritarian nature of the political system provide the answer to the puzzle.
