W. A. Wilson Memorial Lecture 2017: “Enforcing Promises”
Prof. Sarah Worthington QC FBA, Downing Professor of the Laws of England, University of Cambridge
In England, equity has a significant role to play in decisions on enforcing promises. The same practical problems arise everywhere, and yet Scots law deals with them without the need for an English-style equity. This lecture explores the broad contours of the two different jurisdictional approaches to see what might be learnt from a comparison of the similarities and differences.
