You are warmly invited to attend an illustrated presentation by Dr Margaret McAllister:
‘A Composer’s Journey: From Sorley MacLean to Aonghas MacNeacail’
An examination of how time and place, memory and identity, and the influence of Scottish ethnicity intersect with modern creativity to define a changing musical syntax in this composer’s artistic process.
Dr Margaret McAllister is currently a Fulbright-Scotland Visiting Professor at Celtic and Scottish Studies and Fellow of the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities at the University of Edinburgh. She is Associate Professor of Music Theory and Composition at the Berklee School of Music, Boston. She is an active composer, has fostered many musical links between Boston and Scotland in the past, and hopes that her time here as a Fulbright Scholar will help her to expand international connections and collaboration between Boston and Scotland.
