This free afternoon event will consider common themes between criminology, criminal justice, law and social policy, discussing and developing connections between these areas while also presenting new academic research in these fields.
The following speakers have been confirmed for the event:
Louise Brangan: Comparing prison policy in Ireland and Scotland
Jamie Buchan: Community and Democracy in the Scottish Community Justice Redesign
Becky Hewer: "Our Inability to Speak": interpretations and representations of vulnerability in contested narratives of prostitution
Mary Mitchell: Decision making in the shadow of the law - Looked After Children and Family Group Conferences
There will be opportunities to discuss each speaker's work, with discussion chaired by Dr Katrina Morrison, Lecturer in Criminology at Edinburgh Napier University.
The event aims to bring together PhD students from the School of Law and the School of Social and Political Sciences to present and discuss ongoing research in both postgraduate communities, and is open to PGR students and staff from both Schools.
