Since it's the end of the semester, the presentation and discussion will be followed by an informal reception including wine, non-alcoholic beverages (including our customary tea), and nibbles!
Please note: Due to the exam schedule, our regular seminar room is not available. Instead, please join us in room 2.39.

Aurangzeb's abstract:
Sufyān al-Thawrī (d. 778) was one of the most important scholars during the formative period of the Islamic Civilization. He is known for his work on Hadith (prophetic traditions) and Jurisprudence. He is lesser known as an exegete whose exegetical traditions were preserved by later scholars.
A Qur'anic exegesis attributed to him was published in 1965. One of the main tasks in my Ph.D. is to establish the reliability of this transmitted and published document using historical and textual methods. I will share how I am approaching this problem as it is still a work in progress.
