9 Days in Cairo: The murder of Giulio Regeni
Thurs 12 Oct, 6.30-8.30pm
Appleton Tower Lecture Theatre 5, EH8 9LE
Amnesty International, La Giovane Italia and the Centre for Security Research
This investigative documentary on the murder of Giulio Regeni is a search for truth in the face of almost-insurmountable state power. While the investigation into the Italian student’s torture and murder at the hands of the Egyptian government is at a standstill, the power of media and people to speak truth to power is ever more crucial. Watch, listen and speak to the men and women who have worked tirelessly to find justice for Giulio and those facing his fate all over the world.
Speakers for this include the film-makers of ‘9 Days in Cairo’, Carlo Bonini and Giuliano Foschini, reporters from La Reppublica, as well as world-renowned human rights activists, Hannah Elsisi, Saeb Kasm and Hugh Sandman, who has headed the Amnesty International campaign for Giulio Regeni.
