Abstract:
Notions of ‘recovery’ and ‘recovery models’ are prominent in Euro-American mental health practice and policy and are now entering global mental health debates (Aldersey et al., 2017). Concerns have been raised about the cross-cultural transferability of ‘recovery models’ to the global south (Bayetti et al., 2016). This lunch time seminar will discuss results of a recently completed research project (https://tinyurl.com/y7obq6je ) that involved co-developing and testing a visual recovery tool with mental health service users and carers in northern India. We will introduce and screen two short films on the co-development process and the implementation of the recovery tool followed by an open discussion.
