These Fellowships are offered by invitation on an occasional basis to Honorary Graduates of the University and distinguished figures in business or public life who wish to spend a period of reflection and research aside from their normal responsibilities, in any area of the Humanities and Social Sciences, and would value participation in a stimulating community of international scholars.
The Fellowships are non-stipendiary, but Distinguished Visiting Fellows have a private office, secretarial support, and access to the facilities of IASH and the University Library. They take part in the normal activities and events of the Institute and are asked to give a public lecture or equivalent during their stay on any aspect of their work. The tenure of the fellowship may extend between one and twelve months, by agreement.
Please note: applications are not sought for this category of Fellowship. Inquiries should be made to iash@ed.ac.uk in the first instance.
