Exchange and Expertise: Cultures of Natural History in the Atlantic World, 1660-1808

Tuesday, 10 July 2012

Co-investigators Helen Cowie (York) and Kathryn N. Gray (Plymouth) invite participants for a one-day workshop at Plymouth University to develop a funding bid in relation to Natural History narratives and scientific material cultures of the colonial period. With a particular focus on the Atlantic World, this project explores the processes involved in the construction of natural and scientific knowledge in the years 1660-1808.

If you would like to participate, please send a brief biog and a short outline of research of around 300 words to Dr Kathryn Gray: kathryn.gray@plymouth.ac.uk. Deadline for submissions is Friday 8th June. All applicants will receive a response very shortly thereafter. If selected, we are able to fund travel within the UK and overnight accommodation.

For additional information, please see: Exchange and Expertise: Cultures of Natural History in the Atlantic World, 1660-1808
