Housed in a secluded 18th century courtyard overlooking the Meadows, the Institute is adjacent to most centres of University activity such as the University Library and the Schools of the College of Humanities and Social Science. It is within easy walking distance of the National Library of Scotland, the National Archives of Scotland, the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, the Royal Museum of Scotland and the National Galleries of Scotland.
